Delhi's neighbourhoods vary widely, each with its own character. Connaught Place is known for its central location and vibrant shopping scene. South Delhi neighborhoods such as Hauz Khas and Greater Kailash offer trendy cafes, art galleries, and boutique shopping. The historic Old Delhi area provides a glimpse into the city’s heritage with bustling bazaars and iconic landmarks.
We suggest staying in South Delhi for access to the best of Delhi and proximity to Gurgaon.
Neighborhoods in Gurgaon
Gurgaon, known for its modern infrastructure, has neighborhoods like CyberHub and Golf Course Road, which are hubs for upscale living, dining and entertainment. These areas feature a range of shopping malls, restaurants, and nightlife options. For a quieter experience, residential sectors such as DLF Phase 1 and 5 can be recommended.
All popular international chains such as Mariott, Hyatt, Le Meridien, Radisson, Accor Hotels and popular Indian ones such as The Lalit, ITC Hotels and the Taj can be found in Delhi and Gurgaon.
Please note that India is hosting the T20 World Cup in February and March. Though the host city has not been announced yet, this could lead to a shortage of accommodation and higher prices.

Mazaar, Lajpat Nagar - Authentic Afghani food in the heart of Afghan community in Delhi. This one is highly recommended by Gustav.
State Bhawans - Regional foods from around India. Recommended by Gustav for a one-stop shop for a variety of authentic regional food.
Coast Cafe, Hauz Khas - Authentic Malayalam (Keralan) food, from buttery, flakey parottas, seafood curries to salads and tacos.

Connaught Place: Built by the British in 1931 as a commercial hub, Connaught Place is now a popular shopping hub in Central Delhi, housing international brands, boutiques, and eateries.
Khan Market: Khan Market is a bustling shopping area in South Delhi where you can find some great home-grown fashion brands, historic bookstores such as Faqir Chand & Sons and Bahri Sons, and some of the best restaurants in Delhi.
Chandni Chowk: Located in the centre of Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk is best known for its narrow laneways, delicious street food and local handicrafts.
Dilli Haat: An open-air market featuring handicrafts and cuisines from around India.
Hauz Khas: Neighbourhood in South Delhi known for its greenery, historic monuments, designer boutiques, and cafes.
Janpath: Janpath, in central New Delhi, is a shopping street known for handicrafts, clothing, jewellery, and souvenirs. Check out Pemba Arts and Lama Art House for some trendy jewellery pieces.
Central Cottage Industries Emporium: Government run market which brings together handicrafts from across India. You can find everything here from Madhubani paintings, Dhokra brass works, silk and cotton textiles, furniture pieces to jewellery. We recommend this emporium if you wish to buy genuine and authentic local artworks and handicrafts.

Agra
The most famous day trip from Delhi is to Agra, home of the iconic Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We also recommend visiting Agra Fort and the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah when you’re there. Agra is approximately a 3-4 hour drive from Delhi or by 1.5 hr train.Jaipur
Known as the Pink City, Jaipur has stunning forts and palaces, including the Amber Fort, City Palace, and Hawa Mahal. A round trip can be completed in a day as it is about 5 hours from Delhi by car or train.Mathura
The birthplace of Lord Krishna, Mathura is an important place of pilgrimage for Hindus. Approximately 3 hours drive from Delhi, it offers numerous temples and ghats along the Yamuna River, making it an excellent option for a spiritual day trip.Neemrana Fort Palace
